Chen, who is over eighty years old, is a famous calligrapher in the town. His writing always features powerful strokes and sincere literary elegance.
In the first half of his life, Chen struggled to make a living and developed excellent calligraphy skills, but he had a distant relationship with his children, who all have high academic degrees and are working elsewhere. Now he lives alone and he spends his days in hostess tea houses . One day, while he was enjoying his life, he turned around and was surprised to see his son with his grandson at the door.
It turned out that Chen’s oldest son, who is in his forties, had experienced a failed career and a broken marriage, so he had to return to his hometown with his son. Since then, the three generations of Chen family started to take on “couplet writing tasks” in the town. They gradually got to know themselves and reshaped their family relationships amidst the intricate relationships between their clients and Chen Hui’s unexpected stroke.
Although they were writing couplets for the deceased, the three generations of the Chen family found a new life together.
